The Town of Horror
I have a story that I feel needs to be told. Ok, so last summer, I was headed for a late vacation in the great city of Las Vegas. Halfway there, I believe, I accidentally knocked the GPS out of its holder. The piece of crap broke. I had to take the risky chance of finding the city without help. I knew it was going to be a challenge, but I didn't think anything of it. Besides, the next day I was going to wake up in a nice hotel room safe and untouched, happily enjoying my vacation. At least, that's what I thought was going to happen. I was going 50 mph as I passed a billboard that said 'Hell Awaits'. Whatever. I sped up to 60 mph. Then 65. Then, all of a sudden, a big bang shook my head. Honestly, that's all I remember. Well, until I woke up.
When I finally woke up, I wasn't in a bed in a lovely hotel room. I wasn't even in a hospital bed. Believe it or not, I was still in my car. Well, what was left of my car, anyway. I got up and looked outside. It was pitch dark. I was in some kind of town. No signs of nearby cars anywhere. Then, my eye caught something. Lying in the middle of the road, the dark lonely road, was a sign. I got out of my destroyed car and walked up to it. 'Welcome to LV', it read. LV? Since when was LV an abandoned town in the middle of nowhere? It had to be misplaced. It just had to be. I looked around. Abandoned buildings surrounded me. Buildings with busted windows and broken bricks. I looked down at the road. Cracks with grass rising up to the air was all that was left. No paint, no street lights, just cracked cement. I kept walking, until I heard a noise.
"Help me..." the cracky voice cried out. "Help me..." I looked to my right, and what I spotted startled me. Between two abandoned buildings sat an old lady in a dirty, holey dress. She sat on the ground with her arms around her knees. No shoes. Just a dress. She was very pale.
"Help you with what?" I asked, approaching her. She looked up at me with horror.
"Get... get away from me! Don't... don't hurt me!" she cried out. She then got up and ran away, yelling "HELP". I shrugged and continued walking. After a few minutes, I finally found a street light. I walked up to it, and what I found shocked me. Lying in the light was a puddle of blood, with the words, 'Get out. While you're still alive!' written in it. The puddle worried me, but it also made me excited because it could've been a sign of life. And it was.
I looked around, hoping to see an alive human body. I looked, looked, and looked until I was interrupted by a hand on the shoulder. I turned around, and sighed with relief.
"Hi there! What brings you to LV?!" a pale, old man asked me.
"LV? Sorry, sir, but you must be mistaken. This can't be Las Veg..." the old man interrupted me.
"Las Vegas?!" he said, laughing, showing his yellow teeth. "YOU'RE mistaken! This isn't LAS Vegas, this is LOST Vegas!" the old man said, with a chuckle. As he was laughing, spit flowed from his mouth onto his dark green coat. Snot covered his mustache, and the street light's beam shined on his somewhat bald head.
"Oh. Can you tell me how to get to LAS Vegas, please?" I asked him. He finally stopped laughing and wiped the spit that rolled down his chin off.
"Oh, that gets me everytime. Sorry kid, I don't know where Las Vegas is. But, I do have a map in my office. Here, follow me." he said. I did so. During the short little trip, I asked him what his name was. He replied, "Name? Um, just call me Steve. I suppose." I didn't think anything of it, and continued following him. He led me to an old beat-up cabin. The windows were tinted, and there was no door. I followed him inside. "Ok, here. Come with me to my office." he said, leading me into a room with nothing but boxes... and a wooden chair. The chair sat right in the middle of the room. "Take a seat." he told me. I did so. He then closed the door, and locked it for some strange reason.
"Um, what are you doing?!" I asked, obviously worried. He didn't say nothing. All he did was pull a rope and a book out of an old box. He then walked toward me. I flinched a little.
"No need to be scared. I'm only saving you." he stated. 'What the hell does that mean?!' I thought. Then a sick thought flew into my head, and caused me to run for the door. It didn't work, because before I could unlocked the door and escape safely, he grabbed me and threw me in the chair. Before I could make a move, he threw the rope around me and tied me up. I was trapped.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" I yelled.
"Shhh, this will all be over soon." he responded, opening up his book. He stood right in front of me, flipping the pages in his book, trying to get to the right page. Then, a plan popped into my head. The only thing that was tied was my arms. My legs were free. The rope wasn't even tight, so I'd have no trouble getting out of this Hell. Without any second thoughts, I put my plan into place. My right foot met with his manhood. He fell down in pain. I then slid the rope off, and got up from the chair. I knew he was going to get up and start chasing me. That's why I took a nearby vase, sitting happily in a box, and smashed it across the back of his head. I knocked him unconscious. I unlocked the door and broke free. I got the hell out of that cabin. Only in that moment did I realize that escaping that Hell just might've led me to a bigger Hell.
When I ran out of the Cabin, the town was still abandoned. Well, so I thought. A growl suddenly caught my attention. I looked up the road, and standing before me was a little girl. 'Hey, maybe she knows where Las Vegas is.' I thought.
"HEY! Do you know where Las Vegas is?!" I yelled out to her. As I waited for an answer, I noticed that her eyes were slightly different than mine. Instead of the regular human eyes, this girl's eyes were nothing but black. She was pale, too. She reminded me of that old woman that I found in between those buildings. I yelled out to her again, but she still didn't reply. Then, all of a sudden, her pale face started changing shape. Her black, dark eyes grew big. She opened her mouth. I thought I was finally going to get an answer, but I was wrong. Instead of words, blood poured down from her mouth. The sight almost made my soul pop out of my body. Then, she fell to the ground. There was a pause. I thought she was dead. I started to slowly walk up to her, but before I could make a step, a flash blinded my eyes. When I recovered, she was gone. I then noticed something different. The town was no longer abandoned! Life invaded the town! But I then realized that it wasn't the life that I was used. Figures were walking through me, and I suddenly felt a chill. This was afterlife. I tried talking to the figures, but they just ignored me. Heck, they ignored each other. I kept trying to get their attention, but it didn't work. I thought for a second: 'If talking won't get their attention, what about yelling?' I opened my mouth, getting ready to yell. But before I could do so, a hand wrapped around my mouth. Another hand wrapped around my chest, trapping me. A voice then screeched from my back.
"He was trying to save you..." the voice said. "He was trying to save you..." the voice said again. I tried to escape, but his grip tightened. I tried to turn to look at him, but all I saw was a pale face with eyes replaced with flowing blood. He turned me back around. "He was trying to save you..." he said over and over again. Suddenly, I heard a noise that sounded like an engine. I looked up the street. What I saw frightened the life out of me. Before me... and him... was a Semi-truck, speeding right towards us. I tried to escape the arms of the pale man, but his grip got tighter and tighter, while the truck got closer and closer. Then, a big bang followed by a blast of light struck my eyes. I then woke up. No, it was not a dream. When I got up, the figures still roamed the street. The bloody gripper was gone, and so was the truck. I looked to my right, and I noticed my destroyed car, sitting right next to me. I looked in it, and my jaw almost broke off of my face. Lying in the car was a dead body. I took a closer look, and what I noticed almost made me burst into tears. Lying dead in the car was... me. I looked up and around. Figures continued walking up and down the street like nothing happened. The thought popped into my head. No, it can't be. I can't be dead. I can't be! But I am... and those figures... those figures... I'm one of them.
